When All We Have is Gone
The scene shifts to a heavenly court where angels and Satan (the Accuser) present themselves before God. When God boasts about the blameless integrity of His servant Job, Satan challenges Job's motives. He argues that Job is only faithful because God has blessed him with wealth and a "hedge" of protection.
Satan bets that if everything Job owns is taken away, Job will curse God to His face. To prove Job's genuine faith, God accepts the challenge. He gives Satan full authority over Job’s possessions and family, but sets a strict boundary: Satan is forbidden from physically harming Job himself.
